Our Story

Schwieterman Pharmacy in Minster, OH has been a compounding pharmacy for 13 years. We serve all six locations including; Celina, Coldwater, Minster, New Bremen, St. Marys, and Wapakoneta. Schwieterman Pharmacy in Minster, OH opened the compounding center in July of 2001. However, pharmacists have compounded medication since the profession was started. It is the process in which the pharmacist uses pure chemicals to make a finished product pursuant to a practitioner’s order. Compounding combines an ageless art with the latest knowledge and state-of-the-art technology. It is fundamental to the profession of pharmacy and was a standard means of providing prescription medications before drugs began to be produced in mass quantities by pharmaceutical manufacturers. The demand for professional compounding has increased in recent years. Healthcare professionals and patients realize that the limited number of strengths and dosage forms that are commercially available do not meet the needs of many patients. Compounded medication is customized to address each patient’s specific needs.

Our compounding professionals can prepare:

  • Unique dosage forms containing the best dose of medication for each individual.
  • Medications in dosage forms that are not commercially available, such as transdermal gels or creams, troches, ‘chewies’, and lollipops.
  • Medications free of problem-causing ingredients such as dyes, sugar, lactose or alcohol.
  • Combinations of various compatible medications into a single dosage form for easier administration and improved compliance.
  • Medications that are not commercially available.

Compounding has been a part of our business for many years. It takes state-of-the-art equipment, chemicals and advanced techniques to ensure quality products. The efficacy of any formulation is directly related to its preparation, which is why the selection of your compounding pharmacy is critical!

We compound approximately 1000 prescriptions per month. This volume gives us experience compounding a variety of medications without being so large that supervision is compromised. The pharmacist on duty has intimate knowledge of each product being compounded that day. We are the pharmacy provider and consultant for Grand Lake Hospice. We also compound medication for Joint Township District Memorial Hospital. We are a Doctor of Pharmacy rotation site for the Ohio State University College of Pharmacy, Ohio Northern University College of Pharmacy, and University of Cincinnati College of Pharmacy. In addition, we are a proud member of the Professional Compounding Centers of America.
